    Saint Catherine (Egyptian Arabic: , pronounced [sænte kætin]; also spelled St. Katrine) is a city in the South Sinai Governorate of Egypt, situated at the outskirts of the El Tor Mountains with an elevation of 1,586 metres (5,203 ft), 120 kilometres (75 mi) away from Nuweiba and at the foot of Mount Sinai and Saint Catherine's Monastery. In 1994 its population was 4,603 people and it has been declared a UNESCO world heritage site since 2002.

    Mount Sinai (Hebrew: Har Sinai; Aramaic: r Dsyny; Ancient Egyptian), which is traditionally known as Jabal Musa (Arabic: translation: Mount Moses), is located on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt and may possibly be identical to biblical Mount Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments according to the Bible. It stands at 2,285-metres (7,497 ft) tall next to nearby peak Mount Catherine that measures 2,629 m or 8,625 ft -the highest peak in all of Egypt.
