During the colonial periods, the mountains around Santa Lucia were mined for some time, that's why the city became so important for the Spanish Crown. In the mountain, just 5 minutes from the Valley of Angels we can find the town of San Juancito, where the New York and Honduras Rosario Mining Co. operated from 1880 to 1954. Valle de Angeles is a small and quiet community located very close to Tegucigalpa , famous for its natural environment, its friendly people, its mining history, its delicious typical food and its crafts, activity for which it is known as "The Cradle of Craftsmen".
