Meet the tour guide at your Izmir hotel and travel to Sardis, an ancient city at the location of modern Sart in Turkey's Manisa Province. It was once the capital of Lydia, a significant Persian Empire city, seat of a proconsul under the Roman Empire and metropolis of the province Lydia in later Roman and Byzantine times. As one of the Seven churches of Asia, it was addressed by John, author of Revelation in the Bible. Its importance is linked to its strategic strength, position on a major highway leading from interior to Aegean coast and control over wide Hermus plain.

View notable ruins on Acropolis. Visit Temple of Cybele and Diana which became church afterwards. See Pactalos river and Royal Road too before visiting reconstructed Synagogue, Gymnasium and new excavation area. Return back to Izmir after 5 hours.
