Spectacular Sossusvlei 2 day private tour

Duration

clock2 days

Overview

Sossusvlei is simply the main reason many people come to Namibia. Quite remote at 380km away from Walvis Bay, and most of the road is pretty bad. If you can handle our "Namibian Massage", as we jokingly refer to the washboard corrugation of the C14, the scenery is very nice. We pass gravel plains, grassy plains if it has been a good rain year, and through two river passes. Along the way you may see a variety of wildlife. Most common is Oryx and Ostrich.

Once we reach our campsite at the NWR resort of Sesriem we stretch our legs again for a bit. At Sesriem they have some of the coldest beer in the country, as well as a restaurant. From our base at Sesriem we can go see the Sesriem canyons, the Elm Dunes or Sossusvlei and the Dead Vlei(Marsh).

The dunes at Sossusvlei are of a much more red appearance than those of the coastal regions, and interspersed with mountainous rock makes for some pretty awesome pictures. "Big Daddy" is the world's highest dune at more than 300m from foot to tip, and is standing next to the Dead Vlei with it's mysterious petrified tree stumps and rock hard white clay floor.

Dune 45 is along the road to Sossusvlei, and is almost instantly recognizable and a great spot for some photographs.

Also in the park area is the Elm dune, which overlooks grassy plains and the Naukluft mountain range towards the East.

Just outside the park is the Sesriem Canyon, access to which is also only by foot. In rainy years there is a little bit of water in the canyon. The rock here is all sedimentary rock, and the formations are quite impressive.

We will set up camp for the group, and a Barbecue provides the food for dinner.

On the second day, after breakfast and breaking up the camp early in the morning, we will cover the attractions of the area that we did not get to on the first day, and then it's the long road back home.

We offer free pickup in Walvis Bay & Swakopmund, including the harbor of Walvis Bay, for this tour. As we are still solving the issues with the booking systems, please provide us with an email address on your booking so that we can give you with the best experience possible.

We offer the cheapest private tours on the coast. Our pricing changes by group size, and is the lowest per person for groups of four or more passengers. Even lower than our shared experience competition!
