Overview
Strokestown Park House is an 18th century mansion which has been faithfully restored. It is unique in that it retains its original furnishings and professionally guided tours allow visitors to experience Georgian Ireland in its purist form. Visitors can do a tour of the House alone or visit all three attractions: House, National Famine Museum and the Walled Gardens and Woodland Walk.
The National Famine museum is located in the stable yards of Strokestown Park. When the original property was purchased an archive of papers relating to the management of the estate came to light. This collection is now regarded as the single best, private archive on the Great Irish Famine in the World
