Overview

    Valea Morilor Park is a park in the Buiucani sector, Chisinau, Republic of Moldova. It was established at the initiative of Leonid Brezhnev, in 1950, and was initially called the "Leninist Comsomol Central Park of Culture and Rest". The park is located on the shore of Lake Valea Morilor and is located on a land with a varied relief surface, having 4 entrances. The project of the park was elaborated under the leadership of the architect Robert Kurz. The park area initially constituted about 114 hectares, the lake having an area of 34 hectares. The Cascade staircase in the park consists of 218 steps and is longer than the famous Potemkin staircase in Odessa (which has 200 steps). In 2018, the project of reconstructing the granite staircase from Valea Morilor Park was launched. The project is realized on the basis of a grant worth almost 19 million Moldovan lei (about 920 thousand euros) from the Local Council of Sector 1 of Bucharest, Romania.
