    This special guided walk gives manuhiri/customers and deeper understand of kaitiakitanga/conservation, and the special relationship between Maori and our natural world.
    Starting at the New Zealand Centre for Conservation Medicine, the Zoo’s very own animal hospital, and the first national conservation centre in the world. You will get to see into the galleries where the Zoo’s talented team of vets and nurses care for our animals, treat sick and injured wildlife, work on vital conservation projects, and undertake important research on conservation medicine. From there you will make your way to the Zoo’s native precinct of Te Wao Nui, six stunning habitats showcasing the native flora and fauna of Aotearoa New Zealand. Discover the iconic kiwi, cheeky kea, ancient tuatara and more than 175 of our native plant and animal species, interspersed with Maori myths and legends. Our friendly guides will take you on an immersive journey through Aotearoa’s natural world.
