To fully experience the incredible Tannese culture, the "Nikinamap Toka Dance" captivates you with its vibrant dances and intriguing kastom ceremonies. See first hand dances that celebrate significant dates and seasons in local village life – the harvesting of the yam, traditional circumcision ceremonies, and the famous toka dance which celebrates unity in an island once known for tribal war and cannibalism.
The Tannese culture is closely linked with our natural environment, so it is fitting that part of our tour includes a guided walk from our village down to Vanuatu’s (& possibly the worlds) biggest banyan tree, which has to be seen to be believed! It is the village children's own personal jungle gym and boasts of at least 3 trunks and a canopy expanse filling an entire valley. Here you will wind your way through a network of pathways in and around, up, over and through the giant tree.
