Overview

The Royal Palace of Caserta changed the face of architecture worldwide due to Luigi Vanvitelli's genius, who designed it in the 18th century. It was erected by Charles of Bourbon as the new administrative center for the Kingdom of Naples, taking Versailles as its model. The tour starts with a look at the Old Apartment, which Ferdinand IV and Maria Carolina once occupied; this includes many rooms decorated by court artists. Afterwards you will see the New Apartment, featuring an impressive throne room where royal delegates and ambassadors were received. Upon request, you can prolong your visit to explore the Park - seeing such sights as fountains in the Italian Garden and romantic landscapes in the English Garden.
