Overview

    Aveiro, due to the geographical situation, with the Ria de Aveiro, with exploration of the salinas, the fishing and the maritime commerce, fixed the population in this zone and already existed before the nationality formation, being elevated the village, in century XIII, but the first charter attributed to the village, dates from 1515, in the reign of D. Manuel.

    A characteristic of Aveiro, was the boat Moliceiro, a vessel destined to the collection and transport of the moliço, that grows in the bed of the Ria of Aveiro, at the moment these boats making guided visits for tourists.

    Aveiro has a varied gastronomy, which includes, for example, the eel stew, the streak in pita sauce, the eel of the escabeche, the mussel steaks, the lamb to the lampantana (roasted in black clay) or suckling pig.
