    Itinerary

Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt

At first sight, the Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, appears to be nothing more than a sun-scorched ravine with generic red rock. Yet underneath its dust is where 63 esteemed pharaohs from Ancient Egypt's past were laid to rest. This burial ground was used for almost 500 years from 16th to 11th century BC and in 1922 Howard Carter uncovered King Tutankhamun’s tomb during an excavation expedition. Situated on the west bank of Nile River near Luxor, it houses exclusive tombs and captivating ancient ruins.

Stop At: Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari, Kings Valley Rd Deir el-Bahari, Luxor 23512 Egypt

The Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari has an impressive presence when viewed from afar due to its multi-level structure situated against limestone cliffs along one side of the river valley. It was built by Pharaoh Hatshepsut who held power during Ancient Egypt's New Kingdom period following her father Tuthmose I's death and after her husband and half-brother Tuthmose II succeeded him on his throne.
