Overview

Your tour commences with a hotel pick up at 9am, and your guide will take you to the monastery of Saint Simon the Tanner which is situated within the mountain. The monastery comprises seven churches, all of them carved into the mountain.

Your guide will provide an overview about Christianity in Egypt, such as how it originated there and what Coptic Orthodox Church signifies in Egypt. Your guide will explain how they carved the church, how El Mokattam Mountain was shifted from north Cairo to its present location, and then you'll be given some leisure time inside the sanctuary. You'll also have the opportunity to capture some amazing photographs from atop the mountain.
