Trekking Cerro Toco San Pedro de Atacama

Duration

clock7 hours

Overview

Cerro Toco is an ancient volcano, now asleep in San Pedro de Atacama, just 60 kilometers away, and being easily accessible.
We will leave by vehicle until we reach an old sulfur boat, on a trip of 1 hour and a half. Once there, at 5,000 m altitude, we will begin our ascent that will take between 2 and 3 hours, and that will take us to the top of the hill, at 5,600 m altitude. During most of the year, it is possible to see penitents during the ascent, large icy waters that are generated naturally as a result of sublimation. Once up, we will enjoy the spectacular view towards the other peaks of the high plateau. Our descent will take approximately 1 hour, then take the vehicle that will take us back to San Pedro de Atacama.
    * The time of return to the tour is approximate and varies every day depending on weather conditions, road conditions and group pace. The return may be one hour before and up to one hour after the indicated.
