Castle Hill and Gediminas Tower - this octagonal red brick tower on top of Castle Hill is considered a free symbol not only of Vilnius, but of the whole of Lithuania. The tower is the only surviving building of the legendary Upper Castle, the construction of which marked the beginning of Vilnius.
