Overview

We will learn how to make ITAYAUMA, a traditional Japanese toy, with the Product Designer En!

Itayauma date back to Edo period (1603 - 1868) in Akita prefecture (precisely in Kakunodatemachi, Senboku city). A folk toy with 200 years of history!
Originally it was used a young tree called “itayakaede” (commonly known as painted maple) and it was made by chopping wood into small pieces and weaving them.

In today’s workshop we will UPCYCLE unnecessary paper bags and wrapping papers to create a unique interior product!
Choose the colors and the patterns which you prefer and gives life to a very original itayauma that only you can make.
