Visit Lake Maggiore - From Milan

Duration

clock10 hours

Overview

Lake Maggiore is one of Italy’s most impressive lakes, set in the enchanting landscape of the Alps.
This tour will first take you to the elegant lakeside town of Stresa, where opulent hotels and palaces are testament to the splendor of the Belle Époque period. Then you will embark on a two-hour panoramic boat cruise to visit the three Borromean Islands, whose name derives from the aristocratic family that owned them. The first stop will be Isola Madre, the largest island and home to a beautiful botanical garden filled with rare exotic plants and flowers and inhabited by peacocks and parrots. The boat will then dock at the tiny Isola dei Pescatori, with its atmospheric cobbled lanes and colorful fishermen’s houses, and at Isola Bella, the island that Charles III Borromeo named after his wife and where he built a sumptuous Baroque palace surrounded by terraced gardens.
