Overview

    On this private wine adventure you will get an inside perspective on what makes the Douro one of the exciting wine regions in the world. You will meet two local families that have been involved in making wines in the valley for generations (as far back as the 1700s).

    Your five senses will be fully immersed in the richness of the local culture with its flavourful winemaking traditions and gastronomy.

    In this private tour you will:

    • visit the homes of Teresa and José, two cousins with big hearts, great sense of humour and vivid stories to share;
    • learn about the winemaking process in the Douro Valley;
    • taste excellent Douro wines and Ports from boutique wineries;
    • savour Portuguese culinary delicacies.
    First, you will visit a historic manor house lovingly restored by Teresa. Let your senses awaken with a typical Portuguese "petiscos" lunch (small plates) and a delicious tasting with selected wines from Lavradores de Feitoria, a boutique wine brand that is generating a lot of interest.

    Our next stop will include visiting a typical Douro winery. José, the owner and chief winemaker will show you around the winery, explaining the winemaking process. You will be able to taste more wonderful wines, including an exceptional "secret Port".

    In the late afternoon, you will enjoy a leisurely "secret" walk near Casal dos Loivos, one of the most beautiful spots in the world, as described by the BBC.

    The return drive to Porto will surprise you with more beautiful scenery and you may be lucky enough to see an incredible sunset over the hills. The perfect ending to a day you’ll wish never to end.
