Overview

    Bergendal is a former sugar plantation, located in the Brokopondo district, on the left bank of the Suriname river. In 1713 a military post was built to protect the plantations along the Suriname river against the attacks of the Indigenous.

    Since 2008, Bergendal has been a resort with luxury lodges and has an Adventure Center with various activities. On the way to Bergendal you drive over the Martin Luther Kingweg through the district of Para. The district of Para is known for the many swimming areas and the bauxite mine Billiton. Along the way to Bergendal you with get to see several small villages of the Maroons.

    When ziplining you will cross over an part of the Suriname river and here you get to see the beauty of the jungle. Ziplining is an must activity when in Suriname. When kayaking you will get a chance to spot some animals such as birds, monkeys etc.
