Mount Batur is a towering volcano on Bali island and you can see it from many parts of the island (it’s even visible from Nusa Penida; Bali’s neighbouring island!).

When visiting Bali, many people opt to embark on a guided hiking tour to the top of Mount Batur but as this section is about the best free attractions in Bali, we can’t really recommend doing that if you want to save money!

Instead, there are numerous points around the island where you can view Mount Batur completely free of charge!

Arguably the best place to view Mount Batur from is Pinggan Village which is located in the Kintamani Highlands.

From there, you can see the stunning vista that is Mount Batur’s magnificent peak!

Situated in the beautiful region of Candidasa, the Lotus Lagoon is a popular and pretty landmark in Bali and it also happens to be free of charge to visit!

The lagoon is a huge lake filled with beautiful pink lotuses; it really is an Instagram photographer’s dream!

A visit to the lagoon is a must if you’re travelling with girl friends or as a couple as it’s an incredible serene and even romantic place in Bali!

You can also see the lush garden island that’s decorated with stunning statues in the middle of the Lotus Lagoon.

Make sure you bring your camera along to this free attraction in Bali; it’s something you’ll certainly want to take plenty of pictures of!

Coffee is a huge deal in Bali so if you’re a fan of the caffeinated stuff, you’re sure to love a visit to the Satria Coffee Plantation!

There are many coffee plantations all over the island but the Satria offering is arguably the best.

Here, you can sample many different types of tea and coffee, including the highly coveted Luwak coffee which is produced from the faeces of the Luwak; an Asian palm civet!

This coffee is incredibly expensive if you choose to buy it, so make sure you take advantage of the free option to sample some while you’re visiting the Satria Coffee Plantation.

This free attraction in Bali probably isn’t well suited to younger children as it will involve sampling coffee and you don’t want to give them lots of caffeine!

Getting to Nyang Nyang beach is quite the trek so it’s not something we’d advise doing with kids, but once you get there, you’ll realise it was well worth the arduous hike and climb!

Situated in the south of Bali, Nyang Nyang beach is a pristine white-sand beach that’s renowned for its elusiveness.

As you have to follow a dirt track, cross a field and then traverse 500 steps to get to the beach, it’s safe to say that it’s a tranquil haven away from the other busy beaches in Bali as it’s such an adventure to get there!

If you can brave the long hike to get to Nyang Nyang beach, then you can enjoy the rest of the day exploring its beautiful sand, calm ocean breeze and spectacular cliffside views.

Ubud is known for being one of the most popular tourist towns in the whole of Bali so it’s definitely got plenty of attractions to suit the whole family.

One of the best ways to spend an hour or two in Ubud is to visit the market in the centre of Ubud.

Here you’ll find a plethora of different open-air stalls and vendors selling everything from bespoke, handmade crafts, to ornately decorated clothing and jewellery, to the quintessentially traditional, tacky Balinese souvenirs!

If you don’t want to spend any money while at Ubud Market, you can still enjoy roaming and perusing the different stalls completely free of charge.

It’s a great place to soak up some Balinese culture and enjoy immersing yourself in local life for a short while.

Seminyak Beach is yet another incredibly popular beach in Bali that’s completely free to visit.

It’s best known for being a surfer’s paradise and amateur and pro surfers from all over the world flock to Seminyak beach to enjoy the waves.

The beach itself might not be as pristine and squeaky-clean as other paradise island beaches around the world, but it’s still a great place to set up camp for the day and relax in the Balinese sunshine.

You’ll also find many people playing beach volleyball or football, so it’s a great place to get involved with other travellers.

Seminyak beach is primarily a backpackers’ haven, but it’s also suited to families who want to spend some time on the sand too.
