Formally the Budapest Ferihegy Airport the name changed in 2011 to the Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. There are four Terminal s: 1, 2A and 2B, and Terminal Sky Court. Terminal 1 is the destination for many of the cheaper airlines and it is through this Terminal that many visitors arrive for a city break and are able to get a train straight into the city center. Terminal 2A also accepts passengers but this is further away from the train station and so visitors will need to take a taxi. Terminal 2B is for all non Schengen destinations and Terminal Sky Court houses the security checks, baggage collection, 21 new check in desks and even some self checking ones. There will be many new shops opening here as well in the near future.
It will only take about 20 minutes to reach the airport from Budapest as the Ferihegy high speed road means there are few delays. It is on route 4 and this is not far off route M5/E60 16km (10 miles) southeast of Budapest. When leaving the airport taxis are a good way to get to the center and as prices are fixed there will be no fear about being overcharged. There is also a minibus that can be hired to any location in Budapest. As driving is easy in the city many people choose to hire a car and there are plenty to choose from including Avis, Budget , Europcar, Hertz and Sixt . Budapest Airport FacilitiesThe time taken waiting for a flight can easily be filled with many of the facilities the airport provides. There is an exchange bureau and ATM machines and plenty of shops to spend your money in. Duty free shops have a wide range of items for sale and plenty of choice for eating and drinking. More unusual provisions include a chapel, post office and places for children to play. It will also be possible to hold conferences here. In addition, Budapest airport also has very good facilities for the disabled. Although there is not a hotel on site, there is the Hotel Stacio just a five minute drive away.
