Luton airport is the main arrival point for many of Europe's low cost airlines, including Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizzair. If you are travelling this way you may well find yourself here! As a major airline hub, you are not far from the attractions of central London.
Luton airport was originally an Air Force base and then an executive jet terminal; it was only in the 1990s with the growth of low-cost aviation in Europe that major expansion took place to create the major hub seen today. It is now the sixth busiest airport in the UK, but still quieter than Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted. With fewer passengers and only one main terminal building, this can be an efficient airport for arrivals, departures or transfers.
