This package is an exploration of two of Poland’s topmost tourist attractions, the Nazi concentration and extermination camps at Auschwitz and Birkenau. The Auschwitz and Birkenau Museum are on the UNESCO World’s Heritage list. Taking this tour gives you a chance to witness one of Poland’s most sober sites. Over a million human lives were lost there during the World War II.
You and your group will take a 90 minute drive from Krakow to the Auschwitz and Birkenau Memorial. The tour begins at the Auschwitz I, the first camp to be built on the site. You begin by watching a documentary about the Nazi Concentration camps in the German occupied regions of Poland. Together with your guide, you will explore the Auschwitz I site, imagining the excruciating pain the prisoners were subjected to.
You will then visit the Auschwitz II- Birkenau camp. Much of the original camp was demolished, but you’ll see the ruins of the gas chambers and the crematoria where so many went to their deaths. The entire tour is estimated to last about 3.5 hours
