Overview

    Cluj has a bustling contemporary art scene and great works are hidden among the narrow streets of the city. That’s the thing, though – they are quite hidden. Certain places can be difficult to find in a city you’re visiting, information is not always available in English or up to date. The tour can take us to exhibitions, performances, studios & other events like fairs, movie screenings, workshops, usually in alternative, unconventional spaces.

    ArtCrawl is a personalised tour, available by booking, that encourages out-of-towners to discover the diverse local contemporary art scene; a guide to the exhibition spaces, as well as the art - sharing knowledge about the art and artists is also a part of the crawl.

    After booking a crawl and sharing your interests and curiosities, I will organise a walking tour through exhibitions, performances and other cultural events of the independent art scene. Studio visits can also be arranged.

What to Expect

    What is an ArtCrawl? A customised walking tour of independent contemporary art spaces. A guide to the spaces as well as the art. ArtCrawls are like having that artsy friend that takes you to surprising places you wouldn’t have found on your own. Where? In different art spaces, galleries, artist and designer studios, local cafes, shops and events - depending on what interests you and what is on in town. When? You decide the date and time. Keep in mind a tour usually lasts around 3 hours and that most spaces are closed on Sundays. Who is it for? Anyone. Really! No prior knowledge is needed, genuine curiosity will suffice. How many people can attend? A minimum of 1, maximum 12. ArtCrawls are meant for small groups of people, so we can discuss the art. What’s included? Besides the experience, you also get an online map with cool spots in Cluj and a newspaper full of art! Entrance fees, if any, are included.
