Overview

El Cocuy is one of the places that make Colombia such an amazing country. Boasting the largest mass of snow and ice found in Latin-America north of the equator, this park boasts an array of attractions: 22 snow-covered peaks, tucked away lakes, crystal-clear creeks running through huge valleys, and a unique vegetation. Its diverse range of activities make it suitable for both experienced high-mountain experts and newcomers.

Located in the eastern center of Colombia and covering 3060 square kilometers spread across Boyacá and Santander departments, its peaks reach altitudes between 4800 to 5350MASL. The varied soils and climates make El Cocuy National Park one of the most biodiverse protected areas on Earth.

• It is recommended to spend some nights at a high altitude city or town if you are coming straight from sea-level.
