    The Côte des Blancs south of Epernay is planted with 95% Chardonnay grapes. The white grape does well on the chalk rich soil. Chardonnay wines age well & its neutral character transmit the flavor of the terroir. Champagnes in this area are referred to as "blanc de blancs" example of which include Krug’s Clos du Mesnil & Taittinger’s Comtes de Champagne.
