Austin originated as the riverside village of Waterloo, in a buffalo-hunting point occupied by Tonkawa and Comanche peoples. In 1839 it was selected as the site for the permanent capital of the Republic of Texas and was later renamed to honour Stephen F. Austin, father of the republic. The city is known for its great parks, river access, hike and bike trails, good food, great music and its collaborative tech culture. Some famous landmarks in Austin include; Texas Capitol, Lady Bird Lake, Ziker Park, Barton Springs Municipal Pool, Mount Bonnell and Bullock Texas State History amongst others.
Day trips and excursions to Austin’s neighbouring cities and towns are also available, offering tourists the option to extend their touring scape to the outsides of Austin. Visitors will also enjoy convenient logistics within Austin with airport and other city transfers, suitable for both individual and group travels. These tour activities and several others are available on Tripindicator, a tour team that provides visitors with the best tour experiences, carefully selected from tours with great user ratings and reviews.
