London Pass is Worth it?

What can you do with a London Pass?

The London Pass is run by Leisure Pass Group Limited. It is a pass largely meant for tourists. It allows them to visit sites in London. The whole idea behind it, as with other city passes around the world, is to encourage international tourists to travel to London. The pass has a smart card which allows a tourist access to multiple sites all over London (over 70) for a set prepaid fee that is largely discounted. Though airport transfers and transportation options are not part of the package, the London pass is still a good deal all together. Travel is an extra cost should a traveller require it and it is billed over and above the standard pass cost. There are two options for the London Pass: the admissions plus travel card option and the admissions only option.

Who is It Suitable for me

The pass is best suited for tourists who would like to visit as many sites as possible in London. This is because the pass allows them access to all the listed sites at a standard discounted fee. The same would not work for a tourist who would like to visit only two or three sites as then it would be cheaper to pay for at the entrance.

London Pass Reviews from travellers

In a survey done, 92% of respondents who use the London pass liked it and were willing to recommend it to family members and friends. Users of the pass continued to marvel at the diversity of the locations which the pass allowed them access to. The fact that they did not have to carry money to pay at entry points to these sites was also plus as the pass was simply scanned by an agent at the entrance of each site.

How much is a 1/2/3 day London Pass?

The pass allows a traveller to pick a

  • 1-day (62 Euros for adults and 42 Euros for children),
  • 2-day (85 Euros for adults and 63 Euros for children),
  • 3-day (90.90 Euros for adults and 63.90 Euros for children),
  • 6 day (118.15 Euros for adults and 81.60 Euros for children),
  • or 10 day (135.20 Euros for adults and 94.40 Euros for children) option for use.

Children that qualify for the London child pass must be between 5 and 15 years of age. The pass can be paid for well in advance before a trip and simply redeemed once one gets to London as soon as the first site is visited. The days relied on by the pass are calendar days rather than 24-hour time slots so travellers should take this into consideration in order to make the most out of the card.

What attractions can you see with the London Pass?

Top tourist attractions and tours that can be accessed using the pass include: All Hallows found by the tower, Guards Museum tour, Westminster Abbey, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Keningston Palace, Fan Museum tour, Royal Airforce Museum tour, the Tower of London, Windsor Castle and Eltham Palace.

Sightseeing Tours Included in London Pass

The London pass includes a one day free hop on hop off London bus tour that would ideally go for 26 Euros for adults and 12 Euros for children. The bus tour highlights the following major London sites: Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Big Ben and River Thames. Though on its own the London pass does not include airport transfer, coupled together with the Oyster Travel Card, the two will offer a traveller the cheapest option of getting around London including to and from the airport.

Cost and Time Saving using London Pass

One major bonus of having the London pass is the skip-line access at the tourist sites. No one wants to line up on the long queue that is for sure. The London pass ensures you tour conveniently and that you make most out of the time you have available.

At minimum, the London pass gives you a 6% discount for the one day pass as compared to other passes and as such it is good value for your money. If you decided to visit sites and pay out of pocket, below is the price differential you would have to ponder over. The one day pass goes for 62 Euros. Kensington Palace tickets go for 17 Euros, Tower of London tickets go for 24.80 Euros and Westminster Abbey tickets go for 20 Euros. The tickets to these three sites alone totals up to 61.80 Euros which is roughly what the London pass costs. However, with the pass you get to visit the three sites and over 60 others for ‘free’.
