Shopping Canary Island

The Islands can be a shopping delight as no customs barrier comes on the way. Tenerife and the rest of the islands are to a certain extent tax free areas. Even tax-free shops in airports can not compete with costs within the Canaries. From tobaccos, Liqueurs to cameras, films of cameras, transistor radios, watches, tape recorders, perfumes everything is quite economical than in the product's country of origin. Rarest stuffs like Chinese silks, Nigerian crocodile skins can be purchased here. The perfumes, though, would be wise to buy from the airport tax free shops as one can doubt the origins of those found within the islands. The local crafts are mainly found in the form of embroidery and openwork done by the Canary women of sophisticated taste and great expertise. Pottery as well has years of tradition, one of the greatest interests of island population, as in manufacturing baskets with cane, palm leaves and reed. Delicate items are also created there by carving woods. Varieties of cheap electronic goods like cameras, car stereos, watches, CD players are worth buying, though the brand qualities are not ensured. Finnish made Nokia Mobile phones can be surprisingly inexpensive. Shopping, therefore, in the Canary Islands can be a great pleasure for tourists of all tastes.
