Built on tiers extending from the Mediterranean up the north slope of Mount Carmel, is the northern Israeli port city of Haifa. The third largest city in Israel is famous for the immaculately landscaped terraces of the Bahá'í Gardens and, at their heart, the gold-domed Shrine of the Báb. The German Colony, with shops, galleries and restaurants in 19th-century buildings, lies at the foot of the enchanting gardens. Some places to visit in Haifa are the Stella Maris Carmelite Monastery, Elijah's cave, Mane Katz museum, Caesarea, Haifa beaches and many more.
