Venice Carnival
The Venice Carnival is the world most largest masked festival. The history of the carnival can be traced back to the Middle Ages, but the carnival itself had grown into a major event in the 18thcentury when the Venetian Republic suffered a decline and celebrated everything that was prohibited back in time.

Regata Storica
The history of the regatta can be traced back to the 1200's, as a celebration of the Italian trade and commerce, as well in this way the royalties were welcomed to the city. Nowadays the main regatta race is organized in the Grand Canal, but the other small islands held their regattas as well.

Feast of Redentore
Being one of the most important festivities in Venice, the Feast of Redentore is being held to celebrate the end of the plague, which caused huge losses of the population between 1575 and 1577. Usually the festival starts with a religious celebration at the Redentore church, after that huge festivities start which take place on boats, with Italian cuisine. The view is spectacular as the boats are being illuminated with lanterns and balloons. The feast ends with fireworks that start at 11:30 that lasts until around midnight.

Festa di San Marco
One of the main festivities of Venice, honors Saint Mark, the patron saint of the city with religious commemoration, street parades and feasts. On the day of the Festa di San Marco, many old Italian traditions are being hold, including giving rosebuds to the lovers and wives. The Festa di San Marco also includes the Regata di Traghetti, which is a boat race between gondoliers from the Castello Gardens to the Santa Sofia buoy.

Venice International Film Festival
The Venice Film Festival is one of the main cultural events in the city, where Italian and international artists meet and enjoy the movies. The Venice Film Festival is being organized within the Biennale, which next to the movies features dance, theater and art festivals as well.
