Which airport is most suitable for me?
How close to New York city center and New York main tourist attractions? JFK Airport is located far away from the city center. However, the connection to the downtown, Times Square and Central Park, where most attractions are located, is convenient and efficient.   Depending on the chosen means of transport and traffic, you can reach Midtown Manhattan and its main points of interest between an hour and three. LaGuardia Airport is the closest of the three New York airports to the main points of interest. The airport boasts a good connection to the city center.   Depending on the chosen transportation, you can reach Midtown Manhattan and its main points of interest between an hour and two. Newark (EWR) Liberty International Airport is located far away from the New York city center. However, the airport has an efficient connection to Midtown Manhattan.   Depending on the chosen means of transport and traffic, you can reach the city center and its main points of interest in an hour or twice that.
Cost factor The JFK Airport, as the biggest New York’s airport, handles national and international flights.   Hence, flight fares are the highest. Transfer to the city is well and affordable, in general.   Car hires and hotel rates are also the highest among the three airports. On the other hand, if you are in a hurry (time = money), you usually won’t be delayed at the JFK Airport. The LaGuardia Airport mostly handles domestic flights.   If you travel to New York from the U.S. destinations, you are very likely to pay significantly less for flights to LaGuardia than JFK.   The additional benefit is that transfers to the city center are faster and cheaper.   Car rentals are somewhat cheaper, while hotel rates tend to be significantly cheaper compared to JFK. The EWR Airport handles national and international flights.   Since the EWR isn’t the major New York airport, flights to this airport are cheaper than to JFK and similar to LaGuardia (domestic flights).   Transfer to downtown New York is efficient and affordable.   Car rentals and hotel rates are significantly cheaper than at JFK and similar to LaGuardia.   However, if you’re limited with time and travel from afar, you better consider the JFK, especially in winter, since the EWR Airport is notorious for its delays.
Airport delays Overall, delay index for this airport is very low. Usually, the arrival and departure delays don’t exceed 15 minutes. Overall, delay index for this airport is very low.
